LA KINGS OUTSIDER 2.0

Scott Parse: $1.8 million richer! The Kings re-signed Scott Parse to a two-year contract worth $1.8 million.  I guess I was wrong with my prediction. I wouldn't be surprised if the Kings let Parse walk this off-season.  If the Kings can bring him back on a two-way deal with similar cap hit; go for it. He had a strong rookie campaign with 11 goals and 13 assists in 59 games played.  And I should have known better with Dean Lombardi's 'Asset Management Principles.' I've been without my computer for the last week and a half.  Definitely have alot to get to.   On a sidenote: I really think they Apple needs to re-name their 'Genius Bar' to something more accurate like...'The Slightly More Competent Than Those Apple Store Employees In Orange & Turquoise Shirts Bar'... Do Kings Fans Miss Cammy More Now? I Do! Michael Cammalleri has put together one of the most dominating playoff performances in recent memory; netting 12 goals and 18 points in 14 games through the first two rounds of the postseason.  He's currently leading all skaters in playoff goals. Cammy is one of the purest snipers in the league.  He's not like Ovechkin or Kovalchuk; Cammy doesn't need to dominate the puck to score.  What makes Cammy so valuable is his ability to find open-ice in the offensive zone and get off his shot quickly similar to Hall of Famer Brett Hull.  He doesn't need alot of time or space to score.  His down to one-knee quick release should be pantented.  Looking back, it's unfortunate that the Kings and Cammalleri couldn't work out their differences.  It's obvious now that Kopitar needs a finisher to play with on the top line.  After watching Cammy have success in Calgary and now Montreal; I really think Lombardi let one get...

Doughty Could Use Some Help Next Year The Kings defense was average this year.  The top-four of Doughty, Johnson, Scuderi and Greene were outstanding but the bottom-pairing struggled.  Whether it was O'Donnell, Jones or Harrold; the Kings couldn't ever find the right mix.  The Kings will definitely need to address their bottom-pairing this season.  Whether Davis Drewiske, Alec Martinez, Thomas Hickey or Viacheslav Voynov are ready to step-in will be a huge question mark going into camp.  The Kings need one more offensive-minded puck moving defenseman to step-in and another shutdown defenseman that plays a similar style to Matt Greene to really round out their defense.  With so many prospects knocking on the door; the Kings blueline is definitely becoming a little crowded.  Read the player profiles after the jump...
