Photo Drop: Kings Warmups v. Dallas

Image
LASERS ! Dallas came to play against the Kings but L.A. stood their ground and won a close one 3-1.  Game got physical in the second and third periods.  Former King Brandon Segal stopped Kyle Clifford's fists with his face.  Jonathan Quick played outstanding once again, earning the game's first star, and then refusing an interview with Heidi after the game... Justin Williams sniped a beautiful goal on the power play in the third.  He's been playing outstanding this season (knock on wood).  A fan actually called into Kings Talk and asked about the Kings extending Williams's contract past this season...who would of thought after the way he finished last season... Some of my favorite photos after the jump or see them all on my Flickr page .

Hockey Cards

Image
I use to collect hockey cards.  ALOT of hockey cards.  More hockey cards than any kid should have.  I quickly learned that 1990-91 was the year to collect.  You could pull rookie cards of superstars like Jeremy Roenick, Mike Modano, Alexander Mogilny, Curtis Joseph, etc.  It looks like alot of trading card companies including Upper Deck will release a set with a vintage look from 20 years ago . I've been playing around with Photoshop and decided to give it a shot with my own pictures on a couple custom cards.

For All You Canes Fans...

Image
Eric Staal I shot a couple pictures of the Canes during warmups.  Managed to get a few shots of former Kings Joe Corvo, Tom Kostopolous, and my favorite Patriiiick OOOOOO' Sullivan (Sorry, Tim Gleason fans).  Check them all out on my Flickr page .

What We Learned Tonight

Image
"Yes Kyle...You still look just as crazy on the beautiful new Panasonic HD scoreboard." Lessons learned from the first home preseason game of the season . Staples Center should have installed an HD Scoreboard a long time ago.  That thing is beautiful. Kyle Clifford is crazy.  He racked up 19 minutes of penalties trying to retaliate on a clean hit.  He's the forward version of Colten Teubert.  I know alot of people are excited about him possibly making the team this year but I just don't see it.  Clifford fought Paul Bissonnette .  Bissonnette has a twitter (BizNasty2point0) : "Drew 5 minors tonight. Is that a league record? And clifford suckered me 3 times, dropped my mits and pumped him with 3 then he wrestled me. Anyone who saw the fight as a win for clifford ur a meat stick. But then again there are a lot of u out there. Go yotes. Boom." Our top four defensemen: Doughty , Mitchell , Johnson , and Scuderi were all shaky.  They allowed Phoe...

Kings Development Camp 2010

Despite there being no Brayden Schenn, Andrei Loktionov, Viacheslav Voynov, Colten Teubert or Brandon Kozun.  The Kings are still hosting their annual Development Camp.  And I brought my camera!  Photos from Day 1 & Day 2.  Impressions to come later. DAY ONE DAY TWO

My Therapy...

We'll Get Em Next Year, Smitty! Now that the season has ended so abruptly; blogging has become my way of dealing with the disappointment of losing Game One by inches, a blowout loss in Game Five and losing twice in the same series on home-ice when leading after two-periods. The blog posts should come fast and furious for the next couple week so check back often. Check out my Season Recap in Pictures at my Shuttefly site.

Sorry!

To my handful of visitors out there in cyberspace... Sorry for not blogging lately.  I've been working on trying to get all my Kings photos in one spot.  And I can proudly say I've done it.  I uploaded them all to Shutterfly for your viewing pleasure.  The site: http://chasenshockeypics.shutterfly.com It's been a roller coaster ride for the Kings but bottom line... Kings are in the playoffs.  BACK IN BLACK. I plan on getting back on the blogging once all the playoff matchups are set this weekend.  So please comeback for that. Let's GO KINGS!

Thank You & You're Welcome!

Bobby Lu Did Alot of This Eight Goals?!  I'm speechless! The Kings came to play.  Henrik Sedin was lost without his twin brah.  And the Kings capitalized on their chances with a little help from Bobby Lu. Jonathan Bernier played well enough for the victory (although the two goals shortside were  a bit disappointing). Roberto Luongo was bad.  In his defence, he was probably five goals bad.  Not eight.  A few pucks actually bounced the Kings way and they took advantage overwhelming the Canucks. Dustin Brown fed off all the support and love I gave him in my last blog post; Netting his second career hat trick; capping off a four point night for the Kings captain. And the Kings 5-on-3 PP!  Did anyone see how they set it up?  No more UMBRELLA!  Overload.  Overload!  Overload!  I saw good movement and some nice backdoor chances created.  Didn't score but it looked alot better than before.  I'm pretty sure Terry Mu...

Photo Drop: Chicago Blackhawks

The Hawks game was depressing.  It was like watching the Kings dominate the Blue Jackets except the Kings were the ones getting their behinds beat.  Chasing the puck all night.  Not completing more than one consecutive pass on a rush.   Anyways, if I've got any Hawks readers.  I took some pictures of Toews, Kane and Keith during warmups (first slideshow).  And then took some shots of them dominating the Kings in the final two periods (second slideshow).  Enjoy! Not sure where the Kings offense has gone.  Shutout vs. the short-handed Hawks?  One goal versus the Islanders?  Looks like Terry Murray pulled names out of a hat for the lines tonight.

Met Kopi & Smitty

Image
The iPhone Camera Isn't Doing The Sigs Justice I knew I had to go get Kopi & Smitty's signatures when I heard they were signing at the Sports Chalet five minutes from my house. The signing was supposed to take place from 7:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday.  From my past experience with Dodgers players appearances, there's always a mixture of collectors, fans and shoppers that camp out for autographs.  I knew I needed to go early.  I got there around 5:45 and was already about 40th in line.  The line just grew from there.  By 6:45 when the guys arrived, there must have been over 150 people in line. From my past life as an autograph seeker at the Toyota Training Center, I saw some familiar mugs.  Funny to see the same guys first in line here considering they live at the TSC.  If you see a short Filipino guy limping after a player with a sharpie; it's this man ( http://myworld.ebay.com/sassportsintl/ ).  He's already got his Kopi bobblehead up for $80! ...

The Debate: Lil' Wayne or Lil' Simmer I can't decide whether or not to go with Lil' Wayne or Lil' Simmer. Not bad for a free giveaway; definitely alot better than those Smitty's and Robek Juice figures they handed out. Apparently, alot Kings fans are pretty upset they didn't get theirs.  Only 10,000 available.  I saw alot of people walking around with multiples.  Way to ruin a good thing for everyone.  I'm sure TeamLA will have some for sale next home game.  They hoard all those giveaways.

Photo Drop: 2/11/10- Edmonton Oilers

Got to Staples Center a bit late.  Was able to snap a couple photos of former Kings: Lubomir Visnovsky, Patrick O'Sullivan and Denis Grebeshkov.

Photo Drop: 2/7/10- Kings 4 Wings 3

Here's some shots I took at yesterday's game and some shots of the Wings during warmups.
